About Us

Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd provides civil legal services, almost exclusively in family law, to low income residents of Dakota County. We provide direct client representation by both staff and volunteer attorneys; administer the only pro bono program in Dakota County placing all civil cases in all areas of civil legal services; and partner with other organizations to coordinate the Dakota County Family Law Self Help Center , an all volunteer pro se project.

Legal Assistance of Dakota County, Ltd. was founded in 1972 by lawyers in the local community who saw an unmet need for low income residents of Dakota County who could not afford private representation in legal matters that are critical to the well being of their families.

Our mission is to provide high quality legal services to low-income persons in civil matters.

Legal Assistance of Dakota county, Ltd., is a private non profit corporation, a 501(c)3 corporation. Contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.
